Among The Suns with a hit My Star is BrainStorm’s breakthrough album internationally. Among The Suns contains 13 songs recorded at EMI Studio Sweden, PUK Studio Denmark and Jacob’s Studio UK. Album produced by BrainStorm (except My Star by Tony Mansfield) and engineered and co-produced by Stefan Andersson (Roxette, Peer Gessle, etc) and Lars Nissen (Hanne Boel).
After album was released in Europe particularly Belgians, Scandinavians and Baltic people embraced BrainStorm’s piece of work. My Star for 16 weeks remained on Belgian national airplay charts. Band toured with own sold out shows and played festivals across Europe.
Among The Suns found its way into hands of REM’s Michael Stipe who gave his judgment by saying: "For me the main thing about music is whether or not there is a songwriting, and I felt the songwriting is really strong." BrainStorm also captured the attention from legendary Bob Dylan who saw them on Swedish TV and praised their performance.
The title of the album Among The Suns for BrainStorm has the following message: “We are always on the edge...and everybody has to chose all the time between heaven and earth, cookies and sweets, cars and girls - and it's not easy sometimes, so we (citizens of Universe) are always Among The Suns.“
Album highlights:
- Single My Star - #1 on Latvian National airplay chart for 10 weeks;
- In total single My Star stayed on airplay charts in Belgium for 16 weeks;
- Single My Star was playlisted in radios in Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Denmark and Poland;
- According to sales figures Latvian version of the album went Platinum in Latvia.
- Single My Star received Latvian Music Awards trophy as most played song on the radios.
- BrainStorm performed on Swedish TV programmes like TV4 Morning show (1 million viewers), Bingo Lotto (1.5 millions viewers) and Sondags Oppet (1.2 million viewers)
- Live performances for album support included - supporting Pet Shop Boys (Estonia); album tour in Sweden (6 dates, 4 sold out) and Finland (Tavastia club sold out), supporting Fool’s Garden (Germany, 4 dates); festival appearances - Kalaset (Sweden, headliners), Ankkarock (Finland); performance at charity concert Give A Life For A Child in Helsinki, Finland Olympic Stadium (40 000 audience).
